U-LIFE, a Taiwan’s leading home shopping television network based in Taipei, has chosen Etere to manage the playout of its five cable channels.

U-LIFE has chosen Etere and its Taiwanese partner N-Type to manage the playout of its five cable channels. A distributed Etere system has been deployed to provide U-LIFE with a full-caching environment, enabling them to deliver five different channels via Cable Television.
U-Life is using Etere Automation to send on-air five channels' schedules including secondary events such logos and transitions. The overall playout system include a backup automation system ables to replace any Main Automation in case of failure. Moreover, each Automation controls an independent video routers, offering a dedicated management and enhancing the overall playout fault tolerance. Some workstations in Live Studios have been equipped with Matrox XMIO video cards to manage video contents coming from NLE systems and play them in HD format using Etere MTX driver integrated in Etere Cartwall, a powerful tool used in production environment that gives fast access to all video contents and allows to manage simple playlist and manual playout.




Media management

The various departments of U-LIFE shares media contents on real time thanks to Etere Data Mover, the module that transfers contents quickly from one location to another including MediaDeck, FTP Archives, etc. according to Etere Workflow rules. Etere Data Mover also includes transcoding features based on the high-speed Etere HIRES trascoder. Etere HSM has provided U-LIFE with a hierarchical storage system able to manage a DELL ML6000 tape library and a IBM LTO4 tape drive as the core of along-term archive, where contents are archived into type-specific media pools for HD programs, Memory recorded, Promos and Commercials, Footage, etc.



Memory Logger

Etere Memory is the video-logger in charge of recording all broadcasted events on dedicated storage devices. It's fully integrated with Etere Scheduling system and allows instantaneous contents access, also if they are still being recording.



NLE integration

EtereWeb is the new way to access contents using a web browser, perfectly integrated with all other Etere solutions to enhance information exchange between U-LIFE and NLE systems. EtereWeb offers remote access for authenticated users to the most important Etere features including media upload, assets management, schedules programming, commercial orders, operations logging. Etereweb is the only tapeless and paperless solution.
